We are thrilled to announce that Virtual Graduation is going to be even more exciting this year than ever before – and that’s saying a lot. This year, for the first time, the virtual ceremony will be streamed live onto a giant screen in McEwan Hall in Edinburgh. Virtual graduates, students, guests and programme team members’ avatars will be projected into the face-to-face ceremony as the virtual graduates’ names are called out in the Hall.
As you can imagine, this is a significant logistical and technical challenge, and preparations are now well under way. This image shows the first two-way live-streaming test, yesterday – the big screen isn’t shown here, but imagine it, if you can! My avatar and Marshall’s are practicing their excited waving.
We would be really grateful if you could put Friday 29 November at 3pm UK time in your diaries, and come along to the Virtual University of Edinburgh campus graduation space: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Vue/209/39/28 to support the programme and be part of this ground-breaking experiment. All are welcome – current and prospective students, alumni, and friends of the programme.
