Moodle issues

update, 19 September, from Information Services: “We are pleased to report that the changes made yesterday, although resulting in a short period of outage, have had the desired effect. Moodle was stable all through last night and our monitoring showed the service was working well. No further changes are being made to Moodle at this stage, so we expect the same situation this evening, and we will continue to monitor Moodle.”

We’re unfortunately experiencing some issues with Moodle this week – and Moodle has been unavailable for about an hour this afternoon. It appears to be back up, now, and will hopefully stay that way. Service status reports are available at http://reports.is.ed.ac.uk/alerts/service_status.cfm , if you want to keep an eye on what’s happening.

The downtime today was an unanticipated outcome of the Moodle team here at the University attempting to fix another issue, the slowness of Moodle site access that many people have been experiencing in the evenings between about 7-8:30pm (UK time).

These issues are being looked at as a matter of urgency, and we apologise for the inconvenience this is causing. We’ll provide an update as soon as we can. In the meantime, you should find that you have access as usual to your blog, and Twitter, if you feel the need to vent!
