It’s Spring!  But we’re already thinking about autumn and the new academic year, 2017-18 which starts on 18 September.  Some people have been asking me about course choices and we’ll be emailing you (at your student email address) about these by the end of April.

Thanks to those who’ve volunteered to be on our Student-Staff Liaison Committee next year; we’ll be in touch about that over the summer when we know about likely vacancies. This is the Final call for papers for the 16th European Conference on eLearning (ECEL 2017) being held at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ISCAP), Portugal on the 26-27 October 2017.

This call is open until 6th April 2017.

In addition to the main conference topics, we invite submissions to the following mini tracks:

The login for the Hub has been fixed.  The problem arose because of a software upgrade on the server last week.  There will be more work on the server on Tuesday 28 February which may cause some further downtime to this blog and other WordPress blogs on the programme.

Did you know that you can post in this space too if you are a logged in user? If you have something you want to share with people on the programme, see the Blog posting area for the Hub link in the left-hand column.

We are planning to refresh this space – do give us some suggestions for what you would like to see in a space that works across the whole programme.

We have had the following request for participation in a student focus group.

Dear students,
You are invited to participate in a group interview to share your understanding and opinions about the university’s use of your personal and educational data to provide services and support to you. The interviews will last for an hour, and you will be paid £10 cash for your time and commitment (distance learning students will receive £10 Amazon gift vouchers). The process will be audio and video recorded for the purpose of research analysis. Any information collected from the interview will be kept confidential and the use of it for academic publications will remain anonymous.
The interview is organised by the SHEILA (Support Higher Education to Integrate Learning Analytics) project team, and it will be used as an input for the development of the university policy for learning analytics. More information about their project, please refer to:
